Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (2025)
The Final Reckoning wows with wild stunts and globe-trotting thrills despite a few story hiccups.
“Our lives are not defined by any one action. Our lives are the sum of our choices.”
- Luther Stickell
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning delivered plenty of action and chases but honestly, our brains were doing backflips trying to keep up with the plot more than once. It kicks off with high stakes and global espionage but it still felt like something was missing.
Speaking of pacing, there are moments when the narrative speedboat hits choppy water. But well, it’s MI: you go for the spectacle and the clever little twists more than Oscar-bait storytelling. And when they do stick the landing, like that reveal in the underground bunker, you remember why you signed up for this ride.
Now, let’s talk stunts, because wow. From a heart-stopping biplane sequence to the chase sequences that had us literally leaning forward, the film never lets you catch your breath. It’s obvious Tom Cruise still refuses to let a wire-rig anywhere near his jawline, dude’s pulling off insane parkour on camera and it shows. The action set pieces are bold, original and built to feel hyper-real, which is exactly what we live for.
The cast all bring their A-game, too. Cruise is predictably nuts (in the best way) as an Ethan Hunt who’s equal parts charming and unhinged. Gabriel (Esai Morales) adds some gravitas, even if his motives could’ve used a little more meat on the bone. Supporting players pop up to spice things up, though: they give you enough to care about, right before tossing you straight back into the chaos.
Technically, it’s slick. The editing keeps the whirlwind of chases and fights from becoming a blur, carving each moment into a crisp beat that still lets you breathe. The cinematography paints every locale beautifully and the score sneaks up on you with pulses of tension that stick around long after a scene ends. It all adds up to a real sensory feast.
Smash Hit Score: 7/10
While Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is a wild, globe-trotting thrill ride, it does occasionally trip over its own ambition. It does land those big moments, though. We think it's a great action blockbuster that’s undeniably fun, even if it doesn’t always know where it’s heading.
